Editorial review: 3 November 2026. Based on vendor documentation; HD Media has not conducted hands-on product tests for this article.

An SEO report has to do more than move Search Console charts into a PDF. Your client should be able to see what changed, which work the agency completed, what remains uncertain, and what happens next. The reporting tool has to make that repeatable across clients without hiding broken data connections.

For a small agency, compare the total cost for your actual client and data-source count, then test the same report in each shortlisted tool. AgencyAnalytics, DashThis, Swydo, and Porter Metrics represent different approaches and billing units. Their product pages can establish advertised features; they cannot establish which will be fastest or most reliable for your agency. HD Media has not performed a hands-on comparison.

Start with the report your client needs

Use one fictional client with an agreed goal: increase qualified enquiries for a local service. A useful monthly report could show organic search clicks and queries, landing-page performance, leads attributed under the client's agreed measurement method, completed work, and the next action. If the lead measure is missing, say so. Do not replace it with traffic and call that business impact.

Decide which data is needed before choosing a tool. Search Console and analytics may provide different numbers because they measure different events; label each source and time period. Add rankings only when they inform the client's decision, with locations and devices defined.

Shortlist by workflow

Tool Vendor-stated positioning Main cost unit to investigate Practical test
AgencyAnalytics Agency reporting, dashboards, client portal Clients managed; optional add-ons Build one report and invite a client viewer
DashThis Marketing dashboards and reports Dashboard and connected-source allowances Check whether the desired plan fits both counts
Swydo Reports, dashboards, and monitoring Connected data sources Test source health and report delivery
Porter Metrics Connect marketing data to reporting destinations Connected data-source accounts Build and maintain the intended destination report

Porter can supply data to a reporting destination such as Looker Studio or Google Sheets. That is not exactly the same buying decision as a hosted client-reporting platform. Compare the whole workflow, including time spent building the destination report.

Test the same monthly report in each tool

Give each candidate the same available data sources and date range. Record the setup steps and elapsed time yourself. Build one page with four sections: outcome, search visibility, work completed, and next actions.

Then try a failure: remove one data connection in a safe test workspace or use a deliberately unavailable test source. Can the report tell the operator what is missing? Can the client mistake an empty chart for zero performance? Record how you identify and recover from that problem.

Finally, use a client-view account. Confirm it can see only its own report and that the email or portal link reaches the intended person. Do not assume “white label” includes every branding element or custom domain on the plan you intend to purchase.

Compare the actual billing unit

Suppose an agency has ten clients, each with Search Console and one analytics property. That may mean ten clients, approximately ten dashboards if you choose one per client, and twenty connected accounts if both sources count separately. These are assumptions for a comparison exercise; vendors define and bill sources differently.

Item Questions to write beside each quote
Base plan Monthly or annual commitment? Which currency and tax treatment?
Clients Is the charge per client or are clients unlimited?
Dashboards How many reports and client views are included?
Sources Does each property or ad account count separately?
Add-ons Are rank tracking, AI, portal branding, or extra connectors separate?
Delivery Can reports be scheduled and resent after failure?

Do not reuse a price from an older comparison. As of the vendor pages checked on 3 November 2026, AgencyAnalytics describes a per-client core plan with optional tracking add-ons; DashThis presents dashboard and source limits; Swydo bills by active data source after an included base allowance; Porter describes pricing per data-source account. Verify the current quote at checkout. AgencyAnalytics, DashThis, Swydo, Porter Metrics.

When a simple report is enough

For two clients with similar needs, a carefully maintained manual report may be adequate. Write down the monthly preparation time, quality checks, and the owner's name. Move to a paid platform when repetitive work or mistakes cost more than the subscription and setup.

For the deeper choice around one product, see AgencyAnalytics alternatives. For a reproducible arithmetic example, see AgencyAnalytics pricing for five and ten clients.

Your next step: choose one fictional report, list the data you actually have, and trial no more than two candidates against the same task. A feature table cannot replace the result of that test.
